| Race Reports & Club Results by Pat McLaughlin - April 2007 2007-04-19 12:51:32 | The 2007 Old Bird season for the City of Derry Federation kicked off on Easter Monday with a pipe opener from Roscommon, approximately 100 miles to most lofts. Showing early form is Foyle member Mickey Harkin who takes 1st and 4th Federation, with B & K Reid taking 2nd spot. Anthony McCrudden is in 3rd position, with Maiden City fanciers Hegarty & Killen in 5th.

Released at 12 noon into a very strong westerly wind, another difficult race was on the cards. | Results & Reports by Pat McLaughlin - August 2006 2006-08-29 17:28:55 | Last weekends race from Thurles (160 miles) turned out to be a massive disappointment for local fanciers with the majority of birds adrift at close of the race. The leading pigeons made good times but with the strong westerly wind many birds had to work hard to regain their lofts.

With a suspect weather forecast many members gave the race a miss and the entries were low. Those that did send had a long wait as the birds took some 3.5 hours to cover the 70 plus miles into Derry City. Surprisingly however returns were good in spite of the conditions.
