Fauldhouse Homing Club - is one of the oldest pigeon racing clubs in the country with many famous & renowned pigeon fanciers coming through the official ranks. The names to be remembered are maybe history to the younger generation but they did well for the club in years gone by. The Club,s 1st National Winner was George Francis with the Nantes Hen she was also 8th the year previous & topped the West Lothian Fed. Open Race from Newhaven - 360 miles on a hard day. The next big winner was the Martin Bros. who were 2nd in the Gold Cup race with " Wee Geordie " came from the Francis Loft " . Later on we had our Gold Cup Winner from Rennes, Eddie Callaghan & Son with Fallahill Super Star, what a winner he was - out on his own, a truly great performance, Eddie still races in the Club. There were in those days many great performances put up by many of the Fauldhouse fanciers, some names from memory - Jimmy Walker of Walker & Hardy, Andrew Smillie, The McCords, Caldwell, Archie Simpson, John Smillie, then Smillie Bros - George, Tom & John, all good fanciers. The more up todate winners in the Club were John & Charlie Smillie 1st SCC from Dol, Lockhart Bryce 1st Combine, Alex. Sievewright 1st Combine, & Bill Francis - twice 1st Open in the SCC Yearling Derby. Even more recently the Club Members have done well in the Central Scotland 3 Bird Club - Bill Francis in the First 3 Bird Race was 4th Open 1st West Lothian Section from Lille - 1998 & again in 2001 was 1st W. Lothian Section from Maidstone. Tommy Price R. Fell & R. Wilson have also won 1st Section in the 3 Bird Club races,
To come right up to date Fauldhouse has a 1st Open in the Central Scotland 3 Bird young bird Race from Whitley Bay on the 29-08-06, won by Robert McConnell, yes there is always somebody coming up with the good bird. There is a lot more in the Club history that would require a book to list all of the club events, but now to some Officials coming through the Club. Firstly SHU Secy. for many years the late Andrew Smillie, did wonders all without computers, no problems in these days. The Club also has provided some West Lothian Presidents over the years - George Smillie, James Ohara, Robert Wilson, Bill Francis, Clark Smith was also Fed. Secy. for some years, 2006 will be the Club,s 90th consecutive Annual Open Pigeon Show and now the Show is run for charity, the total amount given to the local O A P,s approx. £15,000 ,this figure is with the help of the annual " Entertainer of the Year " competition. This still continues and the Club gets stronger each year, with all members giving a willing hand as and when required.later. The running of our famous club & all it entails in keeping Racing Pigeons, is for now controlled by President Robert Wilson, assisted by Secy. Alistair Mackie For the 2006 season we have added some new Club Members giving a healthy 23 Members.The Members have been really busy over the closed season working on the Club Premises on the Main Street in Fauldhouse, we had a Grant from the Lottery to renew the roof and the Club contributed to the interior with cutting through walls & adding New Toilets. This all led to a new Kitchen & complete redecorating of the building, the whole Club is a credit to the Members & visitors are always welcome especially on a Monday night between 7.00 pm & 10.00 pm.
