Over 100 pigeons killed in Easington

Over 100 pigeons have been killed in a suspected arson attack in Easington, County Durham.

Just after midnight on Saturday firefighters from Peterlee were called and they battled the blaze for 3 hours.

The young bird auction set up for Phoebe to help with her treatment of Neuroblastoma was a huge success, raising £910 plus private donations, that members of Pigeonbasics have donated more young birds to hold a second auction for Phoebe.

There are currently 9 lots and bidding will close Sunday 24th August at 9pm.

The Queen has donated three racing pigeons to a young offenders' institution to help them learn how to care for animals and to learn a new hobby to help keep the young offenders out of trouble.
