DEFRA relax bird gathering ban...
Author: RWSTitle: DEFRA relax bird gathering ban

Today DEFRA announced that it has lifted the ban on bird gatherings that it imposed on the 12th of November.

DEFRA:
As a precautionary measure, the ban will remain in place within the Restricted, Surveillance and Protection Zones in Suffolk and Norfolk. Birds from those zones will not be able to be taken to gatherings in the rest of the country.

This follows the announcement yesterday of the ban being lifted in Scotland.

The North of England Homing Union annual show held at South Shields this weekend is going ahead as advertised, albeit without the show pigeons. The charity sale and sale birds will be available at the show, adhering to the general biosecurity license.

The Dunoon International Show will also be going ahead as normal the following weekend (1/2 December) and will include the showing of pigeons.
