A fancy pigeon has sold for over £2,600 in the United Arab Emirates. The 'Bufotah' type pigeon is locally known and very rare, the fancy pigeon is very expensive because of its beauty and eye-catching silver colour.

The pigeon's owner, Abdullah Kaseen, received several offers once he announced the sale of the pigeon and it was sold for more than the price of gold.

The business of pigeon trading has been gaining popularity in the Emirates and like to focus on rare types. The investment in pigeons is proving to more profitable than any other investment in the country.

Both sides of the pigeon sport is very popular amongst Emiratis, with various fancy shows throughout the year and a keen interest in pigeon racing.
