Liberation News by Text? - MNFC...

MNFC Pioneers The Text Message As A Convenient Direct Way to Over Come Constant, and Costly LIB Line Calling!
If you have ever been frustrated with obtaining information, such as liberation times from your designated Lib-Line number, give thought to joining an alternative, cheaper and more pro-active service.

The Midland National Flying Club (MNFC) has been at the forefront of a new (and so far unique) service to its’ members this year, and the service has, over the first three major Nationals, proven highly successful for several hundred fanciers.

MNFC Liberation Text Message Service

Quite simply, all that fanciers are required to do, is to register their mobile telephone number, and there is no cost for doing this, to a specific number. Members then just sit-back and wait for a text message of the liberation times, and/or a holdover, to be received, wherever they might be. This of course gets around the problem most fanciers experience, of having to phone Lib-Line on several occasions, and at a current cost of 60p per minute.

The MNFC arrangement has been for members who receive a text to be charged just a one off 50p by their own mobile phone provider, although this charge is open to alteration, depending on the number of texts that are sent out. The information in the text usually contains liberation time and weather conditions, but further texts could be sent as a race progresses, to update members on leading positions or section times etc. It is also possible to verify first pigeons via a text message, and a printed sheet containing these verifications could then be faxed or E-mailed to the secretary.

Similarly to Lib-Line, a rebate from the income received on the Texting service, would be refunded to the club or organisation concerned, and this is open to negotiation, again depending on the number of text messages sent. 15,000 texts per minute can be sent, so no organisation is too large, and equally the service can accommodate clubs or federations of any size.

If you wish your Club; Federation; Combine or even National to be part of an easier, less frustrating, and cheaper means of communication, then ask your secretary, to make contact with me for more details.
