“Racing Pigeon Digest Magazine” has been America’s premiere source of information for last 12 years. The Digest North American Ace Pigeon and Ace Loft Awards are open to all American and Canadian racing pigeon fanciers / subscribers and non-subscribers. Fanciers recognize these awards as being more prestigious and competitive than the “IF” or “AU” Awards because every fancier in the USA and Canada that flies competitively is eligible to apply.

The Digest “Ace Loft" Award was developed to recognize outstanding team and handling performance by the individual fancier. This award is based on the number of birds clocked in recognized positions (“Recognized Position” is defined as one in the top five percent of the total number of birds competing from all lofts in the race.) by one loft, with maximum of 10 positions allowed for each race. The survey distance flown in the race and the total number of birds entered in the race determine the loft’s score.

Joe & Madelyn were eligible for “DIVISION 1” (races averaging over 2001 birds), the largest category of the six divisions. Their score was an amazing 4611.95 points with a total of 39 recognized positions, winning 1st Place for 2003 ybs. These 6 races were flown in the CENTRAL JERSEY COMBINE (CJC), which averaged 222 lofts and 2,615 birds per week for its 10 bird race series in 2003.

The Digest “Ace Pigeon” Award was developed to recognize consistently outstanding performances by individual pigeons. The award is based on percentiles of the birds competing in the races and the distances flown. Zack loft again was eligible for “DIVISION 1” category (average of over 2001 birds). It entered 2 birds in the OVERALL ACE PIGEON CATEGORY (MINIMUM 3 RACES, ANY DISTANCES). It placed 1ST and 2ND. Joe & Madelyn entered 2 birds in the SPRINT ACE PIGEON (MINIMUM 3 RACES, UNDER 250 MILES). Again, they won 1ST and 2ND.

In the MIDDLE ACE PIGEON AWARD (MINIMUM 2 RACES, 251-375 MILES), Zack Loft entered 1 bird and finished 2nd to a real nice bird of Nick Hourin & Sons.

With the announcing of the “DIGEST” awards in the April 1, 2004 issue of the Racing Pigeon Digest, this concludes 2 (IF and DIGEST) of the 3 “NATIONAL AWARDS” that HONOR THE BEST IN THE RACING PIGEON SPORT FOR 2003 YBS. The last are the “AU” awards, to be announced in September, 2004.

Zack Loft won 1ST PLACE IN 3 VERY PRESTIGIOUS “IF”AWARDS:

1ST Place2003 Young Bird Champion Loft
1ST, 2ND & 3RD PlaceHall of Fame
1ST Place2003 OPEN AWARD

Zack Loft won 1st PLACE IN 3 OUT OF 4 CATEGORIES WITH DIGEST AWARDS, PLACING 2ND IN THE OTHER.

These annual awards are a tribute to persistence, hard work and the commitment to strive for excellence. They truly credit the very best in the racing pigeon sport in the USA. With the amazing results compiled by Joe & Madelyn Zack, Jamesburg, NJ for 2003 young birds, they clearly can be crowned the "VERY BEST" and "CHAMPION 2003 YB. LOFT IN THE USA".
